The Opportunity
Reporting directly into the General Manager Sales & Logistics, this hands-on role requires confident deal-making capability and a deep understanding of fresh produce dynamics. The position is primarily focused on new business generation. Key responsibilities include:
  • Driving revenue growth by strengthening and expanding relationships with the existing customer base, maximising repeat and incremental sales.
  • Owning and growing sales performance through the Melbourne Wholesale Market, with a clear focus on volume, margin, and account penetration.
  • Actively identifying, targeting, and onboarding new customers including independent retailers, wholesalers, distributors, and foodservice buyers.
  • Tracking market trends, pricing movements, and competitor activity to identify sales opportunities and optimise pricing strategies.
  • Building and maintaining strong grower partnerships to ensure consistent quality, pricing competitiveness, and supply continuity.
  • Managing stock flow between growers, suppliers, and markets to support sales execution while contributing to demand planning and inventory management.
  • Proactively resolving supply, logistics, or quality issues to protect customer relationships
About You
The ideal candidate brings a strong commercial mindset, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and possesses a genuine passion for agriculture. To excel in this role, you will have the following experience and attributes:
  • Proven experience in fresh produce sales, wholesale markets, or agribusiness.
  • A strong existing network within wholesale markets and/or an established grower base (highly desirable).
  • A solid understanding of fruit categories, seasonality, and supply chains.
  • Demonstrated capability to negotiate and close commercial deals on pricing, volumes, and programs.
  • Highly self-motivated with a results-driven mindset and a hands-on, proactive approach.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and relationship management skills.
  • The ability to work early hours aligned with market operations.
  • A willingness to travel nationally as required to engage suppliers and represent the business.
