With an enviable group of investors including Rio Tinto, Osaka Gas, Bentley’s accounting, Mitsubishi Corporation and NYK Line, Ai Carbon is a highly successful developer of nature-based solutions which lead to land regeneration and the issue of Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs). The company’s goal is to work with Landowners to incorporate land management practices that enable farming activities to co-exist with ACCU development. The ACCUs produced are sold to market for the benefit of the Landowner, relevant Indigenous custodians and the company.
The company employs ecologists, spatial scientists, land management experts, regulatory and indigenous affairs specialists. These teams work to assess, implement and manage carbon farming projects in conjunction with a various stakeholders including landholders, native title holders, government agencies and regulators.
As an Australian Financial Services License holder, they have flexibility to develop sales and marketing strategies to maximise the sale of Australian Carbon Credit Units to prioritise cashflow for project stakeholders.
The Opportunity
A rare opportunity has arisen to lead Ai Carbon into the next phase of their commercial development as the current CEO and founder who has brought the organisation to its current industry leading position, transitions to the critical role of driving new business growth.
A strategic yet hands on position, the new CEO is responsible for developing and implementing the strategic planning process, leading the Executive Team and taking responsibility for the development and implementation of corporate strategies, policies and procedures as well as ensuring the financial health of the business.
Leading a high performing team of 30+, this position will be the main driver of all major strategic initiatives including the distribution of resources across the existing business and the Company’s growth agenda. The position requires exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, both internal and external, with a key challenge being to continue to operate the business in a nimble yet strategic manner while embedding a culture of continuous improvement in a well-structured environment without becoming bureaucratic.
About You
We are keen to hear from you if you possess the following background, skills and key attributes:
- Significant experience in senior leadership roles (typically 10+ years) within a relevant industry, demonstrating a progression of increased responsibility (ideally reporting directly to a Chair & Board).
- Track record of achieving and exceeding company goals and objectives, with a focus on delivering measurable results.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate and guide diverse teams with the ability to develop and articulate clear company vision & strategic direction.
- Strong strategic planning capabilities, with a history of making informed, data driven decisions.
- Proven strategic ability to identify opportunities and threats within the industry, using foresight to drive innovative solutions.
- Exposure to working within commercial environments with regulatory oversight and contractual requirements
- Extensive understanding of financial management, including financial reporting and the ability to analyse financial statements to inform strategic decisions.
- Ability to foster an inclusive culture that values diverse perspectives and encourages teamwork and be a leader that enjoys guiding and developing others to facilitate personal and professional growth.
- In-depth knowledge of risk management and compliance with a proven ability to develop and implement effective risk management strategies.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders including board members, employees, customers and regulatory bodies.
- Demonstrated high levels of integrity and ethical judgment, consistently modelling professionalism in all interactions.
- Possess high levels of personal confidence, resilience and strength of character.
- Tertiary qualifications in science or agriculture, post graduate education or experience business, finance, accounting or equivalent discipline.
Experience working in the carbon industry or with a science-based organisation with a strong commercial focus as well as a broad understanding of agriculture and its key drivers is seen as highly advantageous. Exposure to Ecology & Geospatial analysis would also be well received.
