The Company
Our client, Murray Irrigation, is seeking a newly created Credit Manager to take ownership of the organisation’s credit function and play a key role in maintaining financial stability.  This role is responsible for developing and overseeing the credit management framework, including policies, processes, procedures, reporting, and debt recovery, ensuring disciplined and sustainable financial outcomes while remaining hands on for all matters credit.

Murray Irrigation is the largest private irrigation water delivery company in Australia, formed as an unlisted public company in March 1995 when the NSW Government privatised its Murray Irrigation area and districts. The company's irrigators are also shareholders and include 2,100 landholdings across 724,000 hectares in the Southern Riverina.

The Opportunity
Reporting to the General Manager Finance, this role offers flexible working arrangements. The role is responsible for developing and managing the organisation’s credit management function, with key responsibilities including:
  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive credit management framework, including policies, processes, procedures, and reporting to guide how credit is granted and managed.
  • Designing and implementing credit risk assessment tools and processes to assess customer creditworthiness and establish appropriate credit limits.
  • Minimising financial risk by protecting the organisation from bad debt, optimising cash flow through timely payments, effective debt recovery, and recommending changes to billing cycles, processes, or payment terms where required.
  • Establishing credit monitoring processes and investigating system functionality to support daily monitoring and alerts when credit limits are at risk of being exceeded.
  • Managing overall debt collection and debt management activities, including negotiating repayment plans, and initiating legal action where necessary.
  • Ensuring compliance with lending legislation, regulations, entitlement contracts, and internal policies.
  • Performing financial analysis and variance reporting, and supporting month‑end processes including journals, general ledger reconciliations, monthly close procedures, and reporting.
  • Providing support to the wider Finance team as required.
About You
The ideal candidate will be a highly organised, analytical professional with strong credit management expertise, experienced in framework development, debt recovery, and compliance. To be successful in this role, you will have the following experience and attributes:
  • A bachelor’s degree, diploma, or equivalent tertiary qualification.
  • A minimum of 5 plus years’ experience in credit management, accounts receivable, credit control, or financial analysis.
  • Proven accounting experience, with the ability to accurately manage financial transactions, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with proven data entry capability.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, effectively prioritising workloads, managing multiple tasks, and meeting deadlines.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office programs and accounting software’s such as Pronto and Workday.
