About the Role
PPA is seeking an Environmental Field Officer to help deliver and monitor on-ground carbon and biodiversity initiatives across its property portfolio. Working closely with the Chief Carbon Scientist and senior leaders, you’ll contribute to the assessment, coordination, and long-term success of NaturePlus™ and carbon projects. This role combines field ecology, stakeholder engagement, and strategic input, all with a focus on achieving measurable, high-integrity conservation outcomes.
Principal activities will include:
- Botanical and ecological field survey work, including targeted flora and fauna assessments
- Ecological mapping and feasibility assessments for new conservation projects
- Designing and delivering biodiversity monitoring programs, including for threatened species
- Providing support and technical advice to land managers and operational teams
- Contributing to NaturePlus™ project planning and assessment processes
- Preparing high-quality technical reports and documentation
- Supporting strategic discussions and continuous improvement initiatives within the broader team
You’re someone who combines practical ecological knowledge with a thoughtful, solutions-focused mindset. Comfortable in the field and confident working with data, you understand how to balance environmental integrity with operational realities, and you work well with people from all walks of life, whether they’re graziers, scientists, or stakeholders.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Experience in vegetation and biodiversity monitoring, ecological surveys or natural resource management
- Strong working knowledge of Australian flora and fauna, ideally with SE QLD experience
- Confidence in fieldwork, mapping, and ecological data interpretation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including reporting
- A collaborative and down-to-earth approach when working with internal teams, graziers, and external experts
- An interest in regenerative agriculture, conservation planning or carbon projects
- Experience with GIS tools (preferred)
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Ecology, Environmental Science, or similar
