Focusing on row crops on mixed farming enterprises combining natural capital development, they manage a ~$1.2B portfolio of investment assets across various platforms. By lifting productivity and optimising land use, they integrate a sustainable enterprise mix of cropping, grazing and biodiversity conservation.
This portfolio, Wilga Farming (Australia), established in 2023, consists of three aggregations spread across NSW and southern WA, comprising 37kha. These are row crop focussed, mixed farming enterprises which include the development of natural capital such as carbon sequestration and biodiversity.
They are well resourced to meet targets, and operate in a fluid and quick decision environment, empowering the Exec. GM with clear delegation. Modern machinery utilising the latest hi tech, ensures a reliable fleet.
The Opportunity:
The position of Executive General Manager – Wilga Farming, will lead the teams with overall responsibility for the business performance and operating assets owned by the Wilga Farming, reporting to the Managing Director and the Wilga Farming Board.
The role has scale and complexity, leading the management of cropping activities, environmental plantings, ongoing development of assets whilst driving the performance and leading the operating company Aggregation managers.
Regional, Aggregation and Farm managers as well as a business analyst report directly to this position.
Gun Agri Partners services staff teams provide comprehensive executive support for your role across finance, people & culture, safety, asset management and natural capital.
You will be responsible for all aspects of business and farm performance including:
- Operations productivity.
- Compliance.
- financial management and reporting.
- External liaison.
- Process improvement.
There is travel in the role to all assets and Gunn Agri Support offices, including to WA once a month.
The Person:
To be successful in this hands-on yet strategic role, you will have the following capabilities:
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Proven experience in managing agricultural broadacre cropping operations.
- Strong knowledge of agricultural production systems, sustainability practices, and business processes.
- Understanding of and prior involvement with natural capital (preferred).
- Experience working within a corporate agricultural business
- Tertiary qualifications in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Farm or Business management.
Being a self-starter, you are motivated with the ability to work towards deadlines. With a strong team orientation, you are willing to work with others to achieve results.
With the focus on making farms more productive and resilient in a changing climate, come and lead the team focused on reducing carbon emissions, sequestering carbon whilst optimising yield productivity, sustainably through regenerative agricultural practices.
Whilst Sydney, Dubbo, Orange, Tamworth or Armidale could be ideal bases for this role, there is flexibility to be located anywhere along the eastern seaboard, provided there is convenient access to a well-connected airport.
