The Company
Our client is a premier, large-scale horticultural business with extensive operations spanning across farming, state of the art packing facilities, cold storage, and a multi-channel domestic and export distribution network. Operating across a national multi-season footprint, the business is dedicated to operational excellence, sustainable produce supply and continuous growth.

The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this high-impact Finance Business Partner position supports a portfolio of key horticultural operations across Victoria's Goulburn Valley and the Riverina region. The role provides strategic financial leadership, commercial insight and operational partnering to farm management and senior leadership teams across multiple production assets. The role, based in Mooroopna, Victoria, focuses on supporting financial performance, capital investment decisions and operational efficiency across several horticultural businesses.

You will work closely with operational leaders, translating complex financial data into practical commercial insights that support decision-making, improve profitability and strengthen financial accountability across the business.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Developing detailed profitability models by block, variety and planting age, tracking growing, harvest and post-harvest costs across multiple farming operations.
  • Identifying underperforming assets and providing robust financial analysis to support orchard removal, replanting, retention and capital investment decisions.
  • Managing biological asset reconciliations, inventory reporting and the treatment of capitalised operating expenditure, ensuring clear visibility between accounting outcomes and cash flow impacts.
  • Monitoring labour productivity, farm input costs and operational performance metrics to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost optimisation.
  • Owning annual budgets, rolling forecasts, cash flow forecasts and capital expenditure plans across multiple production sites.
  • Building and maintaining financial models and business cases to support strategic investment and operational decision-making.
  • Leading month-end close processes, financial reporting, budget variance analysis and stakeholder reporting across supported entities.
  • Partnering closely with farm managers and operational leaders, providing commercial challenge, scenario analysis and actionable recommendations that drive performance improvements.
About You
The ideal candidate will be a commercially minded CA or CPA qualified finance professional who enjoys partnering with operational leaders and influencing decision-making in a dynamic, multi-site environment.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
  • CA or CPA qualification with a relevant degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
  • At least five years' post-qualification experience, including a minimum of two years in a business partnering role within a multi-site operational business.
  • Strong financial modelling capability, including the ability to independently develop long-term business cases and capital investment analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering measurable cost reduction and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Advanced Excel skills, with strong exposure to ERP systems, financial reporting tools and business intelligence platforms such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence non-financial stakeholders and translate financial information into practical operational outcomes.
  • Previous experience within agriculture, horticulture, fresh produce, food manufacturing or a related industry will be highly regarded.
  • Willingness to travel periodically between operational sites across Victoria and New South Wales.
Why This Role
This is a highly visible commercial finance position offering direct exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to influence strategic and operational decision-making across a large-scale agribusiness. You will play a key role in driving performance, improving financial outcomes and supporting future growth initiatives within a complex and evolving horticultural operation.
