The Position
Reporting directly to the CFO, the Financial Controller will lead and manage the financial operations of the organisation with a focus on strong internal controls, compliance and high-quality financial reporting that supports effective and strategic decision-making.
The role is accountable for maintaining effective internal control frameworks that protect the integrity of financial data, ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory obligations, and safeguard the company’s financial and operational assets. The Financial Controller is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of financial reports and analysis, providing insights that enable the leadership team to make confident, well-informed strategic decisions.
The position will collaborate closely with finance staff and cross-functional teams across all business units to uphold financial discipline, maintain compliance with Australian financial reporting standards and regulatory requirements, and drive continuous improvement in financial processes and systems.
The Person
We are keen to hear from you if you possess the following experience, key skills and attributes:
Technical Attributes
- Strong knowledge of financial, accounting and legal principles, requirements, practices and procedures, ideally with some exposure and or experience in Australian agriculture/livestock production sectors
- Degree qualified, plus CPA or CA qualified. Proficient in AASB
- Thorough understanding of business finances and levers and the ability to translate these into practice
- Proficiency in Microsoft accounting software (Dynamics 365) and associated platforms
- Experience in change management and implementation of ERP systems.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a small, high-performing team
- Strong integrity with a sound work ethic
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to communicate and work across all levels of the business
- Strategic mindset to find effective pathways for business improvement
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple competing deadlines effectively
- Strong desire for continued personal and professional development
