Allied Beef is an established cattle production and marketing company primarily in Queensland and Northern New South Wales. This progressive business is currently expanding their operations and requires a General Manager to drive an expanding cattle feedlot, backgrounding and farming operation based between Warialda and Croppa Creek in the Golden Triangle area of New South Wales.
The Opportunity:
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the General Manager will have responsibility for the overall management of the cattle and farming operation including the management of the recently expanded 20,000 head feedlot. Responsibilities include the coordination of cattle movements, feeding, team and the development of the operation. Strong leadership qualities are critical to this position given the need to grow and develop a high performing operational team to ensure industry best practice.
The Person:
Key skills and attributes being sought are:
- Demonstrated background and experience running an operation at scale, ideally with exposure to cattle backgrounding and farming (feedlot experience beneficial but not mandatory)
- Proven high level leadership qualities that will reflect company vision and values
- High level people management and development skills to allow for team advancement and succession
- Strategic mindset in relation to forward planning and development but also be prepared to be hands-on when and where required
- Strong commitment to the highest levels of animal welfare and husbandry practices as well as SH&E, QA & Environmental compliance
- Well-developed communication, both written and verbal
- Be comfortable in an environment where budgeting and monthly reporting are seen as good business practice
- Tertiary qualification in a related agriculture discipline highly regarded
- Possess high levels of drive and energy with strong integrity and ethics
