    The Australian Meat Processor Corporation (AMPC) is the rural research & development corporation (RDC) for the red meat processing sector. As the research, development and marketing service provider for Australian processors, AMPC runs programs of activity that are funded by processor levy payers, private contributions and the Australian Government.

    The Position
    The role of  General Manager Industry, Government & Corporate Affairs is a critical role for AMPC.
    The role is responsible for supporting the CEO through effective leadership of stakeholder engagement which includes gathering intelligence, providing strategic advice, and delivering high-quality information to enhance decision-making and drive greater value for AMPC members.

    The role is relationship and stakeholders centric, including federal and state government departments, members of parliament, industry bodies, advocacy groups, and other relevant organisations.

    As an experienced  General Manager Industry, Government & Corporate Affairs,  you will also develop and implement strategic stakeholder engagement programs, aligning them with AMPC’s mission, mandate, and initiatives. A key part of the leadership team, you will ensure the execution of tactical plans to strengthen industry partnerships, advocacy efforts, and ultimately contribute to the long-term success and influence of AMPC.

    The role also oversees AMPC’s communications team and strategy.

    Overarching for this role is the opportunity to play a significant role in influencing a positive culture within AMPC.

    The Person
    We are keen to hear from you if you have:
    • Significant experience in stakeholder engagement and communication, including high-level government and key influencer relations and the development of communication strategies
    • Significant experience developing strategies where complex stakeholder engagement matters exist
    • Extensive leadership and management experience including the ability to build a professional team and promote a positive workplace culture through leading by example.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills including coordinating, influencing and negotiating outcomes and providing leadership and direction across a broad range of stakeholders
    • Experience with all matter communication from strategy to execution
    • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Australian government relations and industry relations environment and a broad understanding of the mechanics of government (Federal, State and AMPC)
    • High level experience in liaising effectively with senior politicians, key officials and advisers at different levels of government and industry.
    • Agricultural experience is essential, with meat processing seen as a strong advantage
