The Company

Established in 1993, Agsafe is a not-for-profit wholly owned subsidiary of CropLife Australia. Stewardship focused, Agsafe is committed to promoting the safe and responsible management of agricultural chemicals across Australia. Their mission is to support and educate the AgChem supply chain, from manufacture to end of life, to uphold the highest standards of safety and product stewardship.

Through comprehensive training programs, industry-leading certification, and recycling initiatives such as drumMUSTER, ChemClear, and bagMUSTER, they protect both people and the environment. 25 years on, drumMUSTER is a true success story, one of the nation’s leading recycling programs across all industries.

Agsafe is a future looking organisation, where the culture has evolved to be focussed on client facing service provision, rather than regulation.

The Opportunity

A newly created role, as General Manager – Muster Programs you will lead the strategic direction, operational delivery, and growth of our national stewardship programs drumMUSTER, bagMUSTER, and ChemClear. The role is pivotal to both Agsafe and Australia’s sustainable agriculture, enabling the safe collection, recycling, and disposal of agvet chemical containers, agricultural plastic bags, and unwanted or obsolete chemicals.

You will have accountability to drive innovation, performance, and long-term sustainability in national stewardship initiatives while leading the team and industry engagement aimed at strong long-term partnerships with members, regulators, local governments, and waste management providers.

Your team will ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and quality standards and manage all commercials including budgets, reporting, and regulatory requirements that meet national and state-based standards.

About You

We are keen to hear from you if you have:
  • proven leadership of people and experience in programs, operations, or environmental management (ideally in agriculture or sustainability)
  • a strong track record in stakeholder engagement, advocacy, and negotiation
  • skills in launching, scaling, and improving services or programs (program management)
  • strong commercial and finance skills including strategic planning, budget and capital management
  • an understanding of environmental regulations, product stewardship frameworks, and compliance obligations
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in environmental science, agriculture, business, or a related field will be highly regarded
Why This Role?

This position represents an exciting opportunity to work closely with the agricultural sector and have a significant impact on Australia’s sustainability - enabling the safe collection, recycling, and disposal of agvet chemical containers, agricultural plastic bags, and unwanted or obsolete chemicals across the state.

In addition to an attractive salary package, tools of trade (laptop, and home office) will be provided.
