Our client is a global agribusiness leader, who produce and export nitrogen-based solutions, including urea, ammonia, and diesel exhaust fluid (DEF). The company is committed to feeding the world and fueling a sustainable future by supplying essential nitrogen fertilisers to customers across the globe and paving the way for decarbonisation efforts across the industry, food, transport, and energy sectors.

In Australia, their product range supports key agricultural sectors along the east and southern coast, such as cropping, horticulture, pasture, and forestry. They distribute fertilisers from locations across the East Coast and Southern States, sourcing from reliable global partners.

The Opportunity
Reporting to the CEO, this role will be a key member of the executive team and oversee the domestic operations that manage the storage, blending and distribution of fertilisers from strategic locations across the Eastern Seaboard and South Australia. The role includes overseeing internally managed and 3rd party managed facilities, with a focus on safety and quality of service across their network.

Additional Key Responsibilities include:
  • Oversee and implement an Operations Strategy, optimising storage and throughput capacity to align with the business growth and strategic goals.
  • Oversee planning, monitoring, and cost management across all warehouse and distribution sites.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier and logistics partnerships.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, including Distribution Managers and EH&S Advisor.
  • Drive continuous improvement, change management, and a values-based culture.
  • Ensure compliance with OHS, quality, and company policies.
  • Manage third-party warehouse relationships and new site developments.
  • Oversee inventory management, financial performance, and operational KPIs.
About You
They are seeking a strategic, sophisticated leader who possesses the following background, key skills and attributes:
  • Proven experience as a senior manager in an operations management position with experience leading teams across a multi-site network
  • Deep knowledge of the fertiliser industry and/or soft commodity sectors, with an appreciation for the drivers and unique elements that effect the industry and supply chains  
  • Strong understanding and a lived experience of OHS and continuous quality improvement principles and obligations
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills, both written and verbal with the ability to converse with stakeholders across all levels, both internally and externally  
  • Highly developed leadership, project and change management experience with a collaborative but accountable style that creates and fosters a positive team culture and work environment 
  • Proficiency across current business applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and be familiar with regular business reporting and providing strategic input at senior leadership level
