Its core functions include supporting and improving trade and market access, establishing and maintaining national grain variety classification systems, providing market and consumer insights and technical support and training to customers and participants across the grains industry.
An investment of Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC), Grains Australia works closely with government, industry and international stakeholders to improve market access outcomes for Australian grain and grain products.
An opportunity now exists for a General Manager, Technical Market Solutions to join the organisation and play a key role in delivering science‑based technical solutions which support the greater uptake and differentiation of Australian grains and training and technical extension to customers.
The Opportunity:
Reporting to the CEO, the General Manager, Technical Market Solutions is responsible for developing, coordinating and delivering evidence‑based technical solutions that support grain quality, market confidence and end‑user understanding of Australian grain. The role works closely with internal technical teams and external stakeholders using scientific knowledge to translate market insights into practical, accessible solutions and education tools for end users of Australian grain.
Managing a dedicated team, the position contributes to the development of technical solutions, data and resources that provide evidence supporting education programs and market engagement activities. The goal is to remove technical barriers to the greater adoption of Australian grains and demonstrate the value proposition in grains, meeting end‑use performance and market requirements across domestic and international supply chains.
As part of the executive leadership team, the General Manager, Technical Market Solutions will be expected to contribute to Grains Australia’s ongoing development and strategy.
About You:
To be considered for this opportunity, candidates will ideally possess the following:
- Demonstrated experience delivering technical solutions aligned with real-world market constraints and promoting the value of quality Australian produce in science, food, agriculture, or related sectors
- A track-record of translating market insights/signals, using scientific or technical evidence into practical, industry‑relevant actions and outcomes leading to greater market impact
- Experience working across laboratory, research and industry environments to support quality systems, standards and capability development
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working across diverse technical and non‑technical audiences
- High‑level communication, presentation and relationship management capability
- Tertiary qualifications in science, food science, agriculture or a related discipline, with an understanding of grain quality, food systems and primary industries
- Willingness and capacity to engage nationally and internationally as required
