The Opportunity:

In this newly created senior executive position, the Head of HR will report to the Head of Business Services and be accountable for the strategic leadership, governance, and delivery of all Human Resources and Learning & Development activities across ANZ. The role ensures consistent, scalable, and high impact people systems, capability frameworks, and leadership practices that enable business performance, growth, and effective risk management.    

The position works closely with internal stakeholders across production, research, sales and distribution sites across Australia and New Zealand. You will guide and mentor a team consisting of an HR Manager (NZ), Senior HR Business Partner (Aus) and Head of Learning & Development (ANZ) who work directly with site and operational management on day‑to‑day HR and Learning & Development matters, ensuring they are aligned with the broader strategic direction.

The organisation has strong growth aspirations so the provision of sound advice and guidance to senior management will be key as well as the design of strategic frameworks for how GenTech and Genetic Technologies do things. High levels of collaboration, engagement and communication will be critical to ensure a unified and high-performing culture.

Frequent travel across regional Australia and New Zealand will be required to engage directly with teams on-site and ensure alignment with GenTech and Genetic Technologies commitment to their people.

About You:

We are seeking a strategic and people‑focused HR professional with the following background, key skills and attributes:
  • Minimum 5 years as a senior Human Resource/People and Capability Manager combined with extensive experience applying contemporary human resource management and generalist advice at an executive level.
  • Experienced in managing organisational change with prior experience working in a changing, fast-paced commercial environment.
  • Proven ability to influence and develop leaders in addressing capability gaps, talent management, succession planning and implementing effective improvement strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategies that improve culture, capability, employee engagement and team performance.
  • Strong understanding and technical expertise in Employee Relations & Employment legislation (AU & NZ).
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated strengths in consultation, negotiation, influencing, conflict resolution and resilience.
  • Effective analytical skills with the ability to initiate, formulate, implement, monitor and evaluate strategies, policies, techniques and methodologies.
  • High level strategic planning and decision-making skills with a demonstrated ability to provide innovative and specialist advice to people leaders on complex HR issues.
  • Experience working with a range of HR software packages.
  • Highly approachable, down-to-earth communication style, with the ability to build trust and rapport with everyone from senior executives to field operators.
  • High-level personal integrity, professionalism and ethics.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and industry certifications will be highly regarded.
