The Position:
The Head of Operations – Horticulture is a senior leadership role responsible for delivering the operational plans for all existing and future horticultural assets under management. In addition, the role will provide support to two existing broadacre assets, located in Southern Queensland and Central New South Wales.
The role is responsible for executing approved operational plans and contributing to the delivery of investor approved investment plans, through strong on farm leadership, operational excellence, and disciplined execution.
The role provides direct leadership to on-farm teams, ensures operational excellence, and drives alignment with the investor-approved strategic business plan. This position holds accountability for performance, compliance, culture, and continuous improvement across all assigned assets.
The Person:
This is a senior-level corporate leadership position, and we are keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate the following skills, experience and key competencies:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in farm management with a focus on intensive irrigated horticultural production, ideally with a strong exposure to broadacre production and financial management
- Strong exposure to working with drip or sprinkler irrigation systems within permanent crops as well as the marketing of horticultural commodities and managing on farm processing of horticultural commodities
- Demonstrated understanding of regenerative agriculture, WHS, WorkCover requirements, environmental obligations, and animal welfare legislation
- Proven experience developing and implementing budgets, operational plans, and performance systems with exposure to project management highly regarded
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and farm management software (Agworld or equivalent)
- Tertiary qualifications in agriculture, agronomy, horticulture, or related field as well as a current Australian Driver’s Licence
Strong commercial acumen and operational discipline with high attention to detail and strong influencing, communication, and collaborative problem-solving skills.
