The Australian Macadamia Society (AMS) is the peak industry body representing macadamia growers, handlers & processors and supply chain businesses. The AMS provides services to represent, engage and advocate for the industry; and to support industry growth and development through demand creation, innovation & adoption and communication.
The Australian macadamia industry extends from the Mid North Coast of NSW to the Atherton Tablelands in far north Queensland, with planted orchards covering over 44,000ha and production volumes forecast to grow significantly as newly planted trees reach maturity. With over 70% of the crop exported to more than 30 countries, macadamias are the fourth largest Australian horticultural export, and Queensland’s and NSW’s #1 horticultural export crop.
About the Role
AMS is seeking a commercially minded Marketing Manager. This role goes far beyond traditional marketing. It’s about building global demand, strengthening trade relationships and amplifying the story of a premium Australian product.
You’ll be responsible for leading the development and execution of marketing strategies across both domestic and international markets, with a strong focus on trade engagement and industry representation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement campaigns that align with industry goals and market opportunities
- Manage program execution and external service providers, in consultation with major funding partner Hort Innovation
- Build strong relationships with growers, handlers, processors, exporters, and government stakeholders
- Lead demand-driving efforts in key export regions including China, India, Japan, and Korea
- Represent AMS at events, forums, and meetings, promoting the industry with credibility and insight
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on program performance to the AMS board, Hort Innovation and other funding partners
About You
You’re strategic, commercially savvy, and know how to deliver results. You can switch gears between big-picture planning and hands-on execution, and you’re comfortable engaging with a diverse cross section of stakeholders across the industry.
You’ll bring:
- A degree in Marketing, Communications, Agri-business, or a related field
- Proven experience in marketing, ideally within agri-food, FMCG, or export-led sectors
- A solid understanding of consumer and B2B marketing, from concept to delivery
- Excellent stakeholder management skills - you know how to engage at all levels
- Strong planning, reporting, and project leadership capabilities
- Confident verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to represent the industry publicly
- An understanding of supply chains, seasonality, and the complexity of agricultural marketing
- Ability to undertake extensive domestic and international travel
- Export market development experience
- Experience in industry bodies or membership-based organisations
