  • As one of the leaders in cereal breeding in Australia, InterGrain offers market leading wheat, barley and oat varieties for growers. Their highly successful wheat, barley and oat breeding programs are designed to target the major cereal growing regions of Australia and it is their vision to support the competitive advantage and sustainability of the Australian agriculture sector.
      
    Their focus is breeding differentiated cereal varieties tailored to the Asian export market and they are globally recognised for their proven capability in the delivery of quality malting barleys and udon noodle wheats.
      
    InterGrain’s shareholders are the WA State Government (58%) and GRDC (42%). GRDC are currently looking to replace their single nominee director to the InterGrain Board.
    GRDC appoints a single nominee director to the InterGrain Board with their current director finishing their term at the end of November. GRDC are looking for candidates that will result in the Board having a combination of expertise and experience in all of the following areas:
    • Broadacre seed business and distribution
    • Seed & grains supply chain
    • Crop breeding
    • Research and development
    • Sector stakeholder connections
    In addition to the above, it is assumed that all directors will have a strength in the following areas:
    • Business and commercial skills
    • Risk management
    • Financial acumen
    • Corporate governance 
    The Board meets four (4) times per year in a mix of face to face and online with a key focus on strategic and business performance and ensuring risk is appropriately managed. There may be an opportunity to join one of the two sub-committees of the Board: Audit Committee, and Science Committee.
      
    All candidates must have a genuine interest in, and a broad understanding of cereal breeding and growing across Australia with a sound understanding of corporate governance and well-developed communication skills.
