CGS has a permanent opportunity for an experienced agronomist to partner with cotton and broadacre growers around Emerald, providing practical, timely advice backed by strong technical knowledge and local understanding.

The Company

Cotton Grower Services (CGS) is a specialist agronomy and agri-retail business supporting cotton and broadacre farming systems across regional Australia. CGS is known for its practical, grower-first approach and a strong commitment to customer service, integrity and working respectfully with local communities.
  • We are passionate about Customer Service
  • We Act with Integrity
  • We treat people with Respect
  • We take Pride in CGS
  • We Act as Owners
The Opportunity

Reporting to the Regional Branch Manager, you’ll work closely with growers and the CGS branch team to develop paddock-level programs and deliver confident decision support through the season. This is a role for someone who enjoys getting out in the field, reading crops, and being a steady agronomic resource for clients.

What you’ll do
  • Provide high quality agronomic advice across crop protection, rotations, soils and nutrition, while supporting retail operations
  • Build strong and lasting relationships with existing clients and stakeholders, and proactively grow the customer base
  • Maintain accurate client records using AgWorld (including recommendations, mapping and compliance documentation)
  • Conduct on-farm visits and regular client calls to provide timely, practical support
  • Develop and implement paddock-level crop management programs, including integrated pest management, resistance management, nutrition and crop safety considerations
  • Coordinate field trials, farming community meetings and demonstrations, helping translate learnings into local practice and positioning yourself as a local agronomic resource.
  • Work with branch operations and the broader team on seasonal planning, product forecasting and delivery timing
  • Stay up to date with industry and product developments through field days, supplier updates and training, sharing learnings with clients and colleagues
About You

You’re a cotton and broadacre agronomist who backs your advice, values long-term grower relationships, and enjoys being part of a branch team that shows up when it matters in the season.
You will have
  • Proven cotton and broadacre agronomic capability, with the commercial nous to win, retain and grow strong client partnerships
  • Sound technical judgement and the ability to turn field observations and data into clear, decision-ready recommendations
  • A self-motivated approach, with the ability to work independently and prioritise through seasonal peaks
  • Strong communication, time management and organisational skills, with confidence facilitating grower discussions, field walks and technical updates
  • Confidence using agronomy/CRM systems (including AgWorld), with attention to detail in record keeping, mapping and compliance documentation
  • A values-aligned approach: honest, reliable, modest and driven
  • A tertiary qualification in Ag Science (or equivalent relevant experience)
  • Current driver’s licence
  • Nutrient Advantage Accreditation (highly regarded)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain relevant industry licences/tickets (e.g., chemical user accreditation) and meet stewardship and regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of horticultural agronomy (well-regarded but not essential)
Why this role?
  • A chance to make a real difference for cotton and broadacre growers by delivering trusted, practical agronomy in a regionally focused role
  • Strong connection to the local branch team, with scope to support colleagues and share knowledge across the business
  • Remuneration and benefits will be determined according to qualification, experience and performance (in line with CGS guidelines)
