The Position
As part of their continued growth, CHS Broadbent are looking for a Trading Accountant to join their Finance team. This role will support the financial control, accounting, reporting and analysis of CHS Broadbent’s grain trading activities, providing independent oversight across commodity positions, grain inventories, mark-to-market valuations, profit and loss reporting, hedging activities and trading exposures.

Working closely with the Trading, Risk, Logistics, Operations and Finance teams, you will support commercial decision-making while ensuring compliance with accounting standards, internal controls and risk management frameworks. The role will be involved in weekly and monthly grain and trading P&L reporting, inventory reconciliations, commodity valuations, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and process improvement initiatives including integration of AI tools and identifying new opportunities and solutions previously not explored.

The Person
To be successful in this position you will have:
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce, with CPA or CA qualification.
  • Experience in commercial accounting, management accounting, commodity accounting or a related finance role.
  • Strong understanding of inventory reconciliation, financial reporting, P&L analysis and management accounting.
  • Exposure to grain, commodity trading, logistics or agribusiness operations would be highly regarded.
  • Strong analytical capability, attention to detail and confidence working with large volumes of financial and operational data.
  • Advanced Excel skills, with experience using ERP systems, commodity trading platforms, Power Query, Power BI or similar reporting tools beneficial.
  • The ability to partner effectively with trading, operations, logistics, risk and finance stakeholders.
