The Opportunity

South Pacific Seeds are seeking a driven and passionate Trials Officer to join their South Australian operation. Working closely with the Technical Sales Representative, this person will coordinate trial activities with established partners within the SA region with a focus on the Virginia region.

This is a hands on role which primarily drives the practical execution and monitoring of field trials and will involve the successful applicant to undertake activities such as:
  • Preparing, sowing and transplanting trial plots
  • Monitoring crop performance and recording accurate field data, recording results into the database
  • Assessing germination, plant health and maturity
  • Collaborate with the Technical Sales Representative and contribute to a safe, productive work environment
  • Attend grower visits building strong grower relationships
  • Maintaining trial equipment
About You

You will be a motivated, hands on professional, with a strong interest in practical in-field work and to progress into a Technical Sales Representative. While experience in vegetable seeds will be regarded, experience in other operations such as orchards and vineyards will also be considered.

To be successful in this role you will bring:
  • 2+ years’ experience in field trials or agronomy within Australia
  • Strong time management and communication skills
  • A high level of attention to detail along with the ability to work autonomously
  • A degree in agriculture, horticulture or a related field (preferred)
  • Genuine passion for agriculture and horticulture
  • Confident in computer applications and digital tools
  • Full drivers licence including full rights to work within Australia.
